Windows 10 Printer Bug makes USB Printer Ports Vanish, this started to happen after the June 2020 Patch updates in which a whooping 129 vulnerabilities were fixed. In this bug, the USB Printer Ports vanish when a printer is connected via USB Ports. This is an irritating bug for people who use printers often.

“When you start Windows again, the USB printer port will not be available in the list of printer ports. Windows will not be able to complete any task that requires that port,” Says Microsoft in a recent blogpost addressing and acknowledging the issue.

Microsoft has said the bug affects devices running Windows 10, version 1903, 1909, and the new May 2004 May Update. Microsft explained the bug by saying “If the driver for the USB printer contains a Language Monitor, the OpenPortEx callback function of the Language Monitor would not be called. As a result, the user cannot fulfill operations dependent on the operation of the Language Monitor,”, Further “In the ‘Devices and Printers’ control panel, when selecting [Print Server Properties] > [Port] tab, the port for the USB printer (such as ‘USB001’) would not appear in the list of printer ports. As a result, the user cannot fulfill operations dependent on the existence of the port.”

For now, Microsoft recommends attaching a powered-on USB printer before starting Windows to prevent the problem but plans to release a Windows update that will address the issue in the future.

The May 2004 Update of Windows 10 has been disastrous as of now. The update has been plagued with many driver incompatibility issues for Realtek, Nvidia, and most importantly Intel.

As of now, one can wait for the fix for this bug to be released within the next week.
