The Self Destruct feature was seen in Whatsapp Beta 2.19.348. This feature has been present in Telegram, Signal and Snapchat. This feature is still in Beta and is expected to add to the main update next month.

The Self Destruct Messages feature of WhatsApp will have a one-to-one, and group chats toggle on/off button. Turning on this feature will delete any message sent to that chat within the time interval selected. WhatsApp offers five-time interval options – one hour, one day, one week, one month, and one year.

This feature will not leave a record of messages deleted on the chat, unlike Delete for Everyone on WhatsApp. Now, if users delete messages, a message that says this Message has been Deleted is shown. It’ll be like the message never existed in the first place with the new feature.

According to the latest update, what was previously known as Disappearing Messages will now be called Delete Messages.

As the feature is still under development, an update message on their Google Play Store may not be available to all Android users.
