On Sunday, the US Health Department was hit by an unspecified “cyber attack“. John Ullyot, a National Security Council spokesman, said, the networks of the department are working normally right now. The officers are investigating.

Another spokeswoman Caitlin Oakley said, there has been a significant increase in activity on HHS cyberinfrastructure on Sunday. Both Ullyot and Oakley did not give any other details about the attack. However, there was news which said there were multiple hacking incidents which looked like they want to slow the system of the department.

A Bloomberg reporter, said on Twitter, the incident showed, “overloading the HHS servers with millions of hits”. A clear reference to a denial-of-service, where a firehouse of digital traffic is pointed towards a website.

However, on Monday, the website was accessible properly. Such things happen to bring government websites down.

Bloomberg released a statement by National Security Council before midnight on Sunday which denied rumours. It said text messages suggesting were fake. The statement said, “There is no national lockdown”.

As of now, it is not clear how the denial of service is related to the fake quarantine rumours.
