A 28-year-old man engineer from Hyderabad got arrested by Maharashtra cyber police as the guy was streaming all kinds of copyrighted data via an android app named ThopTV.
Today if you want to watch any new movie or series, you need a paid subscription for that. In the market, there are many OTT platforms available, but all of them have paid subscriptions. This 28-year-old guy named “Satish Venkateshwarlu” created an app where he was streaming all OTT platform’s content for free.

Maharashtra Cyber Police Nabs Engineer Behind ThopTV App
Viacom 18 Media Private Limited and other broadcasters have made complaints against all apps which were streaming pirated content. Right after that complaint, Mumbai cyber police started an investigation and ended up catching the owner of ThopTV.

According to police ‘Satish Venkateshwarlu’ has been caught on last Monday from Hyderabad Telangana. Currently, he is in police custody.
Police also confirmed that Satish Venkateshwarlu was running the app ‘ThopTV.’ Currently, that app is having more than 5000 paid subscribers, and also this app offers more than 1Million movies to watch.
ThopTv app was founded in 2018; from that time, this app was giving so many free services, like Live TV, Online movies, and all kinds of TV Series.
The case against ThopTV owner is registered under Sections 43, 66, and 66B of the Information Technology Act, 2000, Section 63 of Copyright Act, and Section 420 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Researchers are saying that the ThopTv founder was smart enough to use the APIs of this app to stream its content for free. Not only that, if you pay INR 35, then you can stream all the content without any ads.
