Google has pulled down the Paytm App from its Play Store for violating policy. But it is still available on Apple App Store. However, other Paytm Apps like Paytm Mall, Paytm Money, Paytm for Business and other apps are still available. However, Paytm did not comment on this and said they will investigate the matter and then will issue a statement.
Google Removed Paytm & Paytm First Games App from Play Store
Paytm is the most popular app in India with more than 50 million active users. The app which competes with Google Pay in India is removed from Play Store on Friday. The specific reason on why the app is pulled down is not known yet.
In a blog post, the Vice President of Google Suzanne Frey said,
“We don’t allow online casinos or support any unregulated gambling apps that facilitate sports betting. This includes if an app leads consumers to an external website that allows them to participate in paid tournaments to win real money or cash prizes, it is a violation of our policies.”
“We have these policies to protect users from potential harm. When an app violates these policies, we notify the developer of the violation and remove the app from Google Play until the developer brings the app into compliance.”
Play Store does not allow online casinos and other gambling apps in India. As Paytm promotes fantasy sports service it violates the policies of Play Store. The Paytm Fantasy sports service are Paytm First Games. Paytm First Games is also a specific app which is pulled from Play Store with Paytm.
As per the sources, if the app allows the users to redirect to the external website which lets the users participate in a paid tournament to win real cash, it violates the policies of Play Store.
Paytm has officially posted a tweet on Twitter and said, Paytm Android app is temporarily unavailable on Play Store.
Paytm Android app is temporarily unavailable on Google's Play Store for new downloads or updates. It will be back very soon.
All your money is completely safe, and you can continue to enjoy your Paytm app as normal.
