FASTag, the new RFID Auto payment system which was introduced last year is now mandatory for everyone from December 1st. This tag will make collecting toll money a lot easier and faster.

FASTag: Buy Online and Recharge using HDFC, ICICI and Federal Bank

FASTag was introduced last year by the Transportation Minister, Mr Nitin Gadkari. It is an RFID based tag that will allow you to drive through the toll plaza without stopping the cash transaction. FASTag is linked to a prepaid account that deducts the appropriate toll amount. The tag uses technology for Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) and is attached to the windscreen of the vehicle after the tag account is active.

Using this FASTag, a user can save up to 2.5% on the toll tax as cashback for using this service.

How to use FASTag

FASTag’s Inner Working

FASTag is meant to be stuck on the front windshield of the car, so the overhead scanners of the tollbooth can scan it. One can install the FASTag application to recharge the wallet or add it to the bank account to make it even faster for making payments.

FASTag is an absolute innovation under the Digital India Scheme to make road jams more or less a thing of the past.
