Indians are keen to get TikTok back after the government has banned the app. The users are downloading the app from the links which are shared on Whatsapp, but they don’t know that these links are stealing their information. This new malware scam is taking advantage of all the users whose favourite apps are banned by the Indian government.

According to the Maharashtra government, they have cautioned the users for using this malware app as it “steals sensitive information from your phone”. TikTok Pro malware app looks the same as the original TikTok app. While you use the app, it asks permissions for the camera, image, mic, and other things.

Among the 59 Chinese apps banned in India, none of the apps was quite popular as TikTok. So, in the absence of the app, most of the alternatives are trying to come up. If you know, then Instagram has launched Reels feature in India, which is an alternative to TikTok.

The Maharashtra Cyber cell posted a tweet to warn the people about this new TikTok Pro Malware.

The government advisory says that, as TikTok is banned, some of the people are taking advantage of its popularity by sending malware links of the app called Tiktok Pro. They are calling TikTok Pro an alternative to TikTok app. Various texting messages are sent through social media platforms which encourages the users to download the app from the links.

The message which is sent illegally reads,

“Enjoy TikTok videos and also make creative videos again. Now TikTok is only available in (Tiktok pro) So Download from below: Link.”

All the citizens are advised by the government to not to click on the link or download any APK files of the banned apps.

The officer of the Special Inspector General of Police, Maharashtra Cyber, has given some cautionary steps to avoid downloading the TikTok Pro malware app. The Cyber cell, advises the users to delete the message which says download the given link and forward. But you must not download any APK files or do not click on any given link.

Moreover, it is said that any link which starts with http:// is not safe for communication of private and sensitive information. Mainly, always check whether the app is available on Google Play Store or not as TikTok Pro is a malware app which is not available on Google Play Store. So the Cyber cell has advised all the users to not to download the app from any APK file.
