It is said that Facebook allegedly wanted to Spy on iPhone users. According to the reports, Facebook representatives got in touch with Israel NSO group to purchase software by which it could keep track of the users. Facebook spies iPad or iPhone users.

Facebook wants to spy on Apple iPhone users. This information came in light by a court filing a case where Facebook is suing the NSO group. As per the documents filed in the court, the CEO of NSO group Shalev Hulio said,

two Facebook representatives approached NSO in October 2017 and asked to purchase the right to use certain capabilities of Pegasus.

Pegasus is a software which came out after the reports came out that it was used to hack Whatsapp accounts. Additionally, the details say that Facebook was not interested in buying Pegasus software to hack the devices of the users. It wanted to buy more as a way to monitor phones of users who have already installed Onavo.

Onavo a spyware cum VPN app created by Facebook. In 2018, Apple forced Facebook to remove Onavo from its App store.

As per the reports by Motherboard, Facebook wanted Pegasus to spy on iPhone and iPad users as it is known that it is tough to hack Apple devices.

The court file revealed that Facebook spokesperson said that, Facebook was treated that its method for collecting data through Onavo protect was less effective on Apple devices than Android device.

Facebook was ready to pay for getting the ability to ‘spy’ on them who were using Onavo protect on Apple device.

“The Facebook representatives also stated that Facebook wanted to use purported capabilities of Pegasus to monitor users on Apple devices and was willing to pay for the
ability to monitor Onavo Protect users.”
