In early March, Hotstar has rolled out the updated version of the app to get the Disney+ service in India. At that time, the Hotstar got a new logo, and it also had few Disney+ content as a part of Hotstar VIP and Hotstar Premium subscriptions. However, the launch of Disney+ Hotstar in India has been delayed due to coronavirus.
Disney+ India Launch Date Pulled, Hotstar Says, as Coronavirus Pandemic Pushes 2020 IPL
Hotstar has confirmed the news and said the launch of Disney+ in India had been delayed. The Hotstar app rolled out the updated version of the app for Android, TV devices, phones and also for Apple iPhone and iPad. It was said, that the Disney+ will roll out on March 29 in India.
A President, The Walt Disney Company APAC and Chairman, said in a statement,
“We recently announced that Disney+ would launch in India through the Hotstar service in conjunction with beginning of the Indian Premier League cricket season. Given the delay of the season, we have made the decision to briefly pause the roll-out of Disney+ and will announce a new revised premiere date for the service soon.”
According to Shankar’s statement, it is confirmed that Hotstar has paused the weekly rollout of the Disney+ new content in India. As of now, Disney+ Hotstar is stuck in between. However, if you want, you can watch the original content which was released between November 2019 and March 6. As the launch of Disney+ is postponed, you will not see any new content till the IPL begins.
The new launch date is not yet announced. However, Disney+ Hotstar will not be launched before April 15 in India. We might need to wait for a long time.
