Apple Granted Patent for Virtual Group Selfies Remotely

Apple has been granted a Patent that allows for creating Virtual Group Selfies Remotely i.e Synthetic Group Selfie. A Synthetic Group Selfie is a Group Selfie that is created virtually with the users in different locations and the users can create their own version i.e rearrange, change the background, etc.
This comes in a time when Social Distancing is prevalent due to the CoronaVirus and people being locked down in their homes. Apple says, “While capturing an individual selfie can be accomplished easily since only the user needs to be placed within the field of view of the image capturing device, capturing a group selfie can be much more difficult since the user must arrange the user and the user’s friends within the field of view of the image capture device when capturing the group selfie. Thus, an easier mechanism for capturing a group selfie would be advantageous.”
So each user would have to take their own selfie first, then the application would automatically remove the background, and then all background-less images will be sent to one phone, and finally one phone to assemble the virtual group selfie with a single version of the background.
The phones are said to use tech similar to Airdrop for sending images or might even use the Apple Cloud for transferring images. Its also rumored that the one can take advantage of the Depth Sensor on their iPhones.
As of now the plans and patents are just on paper and there is no idea when the Application will be available and on what devices.
