India is the biggest market for all phone companies. But the bad thing about our country is that if any new thing comes to other countries, it takes a lot of time to get introduced in India.

We already know that many people still using 2G phones in India. So likewise, if 5G comes in 2020, people will take more than 3-4 years to adapt it. But we recently moved on from 2G and started using 4G so again a change?

The first set of 5G phones will be coming in the first half of 2020. The government has prepared the auction 5G spectrum in the April-June quarter.

The research team TechArc is expecting 15 to 18 models to be launched this year in India. The price of the devices will start from Rs.30,000. International Data Corporation says the companies will bring both 4G and 5G variants in 2020. However, the sale of full-fledged 5G phone will come only in 2021.

Xiaomi will launch around 10 models of 5G models globally. Realme will bring its first 5G flagship in the first quarter. And other companies like Oppo, Vivo, Samsung, and Oneplus will get 5G devices in 2020.

Navkender Singh, the research director at IDC India, said, “We believe in 2020, brands will come up with 5G phones priced above $500 (Rs 35,800) along with their 4G variants, which will be cheaper by Rs 10,000. Only towards the beginning of 2021 do we expect prices of 5G phones to fall below $300.”

Already, Samsung, Vivo, Xiaomi, Micromax, Huawei, Oppo, and Oneplus are selling 5G phones in Europe, Australia, and the US. The analyst said the Indian phone manufacturer would be left behind as the market is moving to 5G.

The founder of TechArc, Faisal Kawoosa, said, “With 5G coming, we might see the end of an era of Indian brands in smartphones.”
